From Intern to Permanent: Introducing Yasmin Wan, Mather & Co’s new Junior 3D Designer.

We’re delighted to introduce our new Junior 3D Designer - Yasmin Wan!

Yasmin has been offered a permanent position after a successful three-month internship at Mather & Co. Yasmin, a creative designer, studied Interior Design at Manchester Metropolitan University and impressed us with her skills during her internship.

Anthony Humphreys, Work & Skills Project Manager at Manchester City Council said: “As part of its work on Manchester’s Our Town Hall Project, Mather & Co committed to delivering successful social value outcomes for Manchester residents. Put simply, this means providing additional activity that improves employment, skills, and training outcomes for residents. One of these commitments was to deliver an internship for a Manchester University student, which Mather not only did on two occasions but went above and beyond by hiring Yasmin full time.”

In October 2023, we collaborated with the Interior Design BA course at Manchester School of Art to create a brief for third-year students for their Unit X project. Our goal was to share the joy of storytelling, emotional journeys, and exhibition design with the students. We proposed the Pankhurst Centre in Manchester as the site for their experiential design proposals. We are excited to announce that we will be continuing this collaboration this year!

Yasmin became aware of Mather & Co and our internship opportunities as a result of Unit X. She applied for the position, and the rest is history! With her passion for experiential and exhibition design, she was drawn to the projects we undertake at Mather & Co. Throughout her internship, Yasmin enhanced her technical drawing skills and learned new software, including AutoCAD and SketchUp.

During her internship, Yasmin worked on the Ipswich Museum, which is currently undergoing an £8.7 million redevelopment. Mather & Co is responsible for designing several galleries, as well as a new café, reception area, and retail spaces, all aimed at bringing a contemporary vision to the original 19th-century museum building.

Yasmin has integrated with the team so authentically, and we’re grateful to have her as part of the Mather & Co team!
