Experiential design consultancy, Mather & Co, have worked with Silverstone Heritage Limited for over 10 years, having originally designed the acclaimed Silverstone Museum, which opened to the public in 2019. The team worked closely with Silverstone Heritage Limited and the British Racing Drivers’ Club, to develop and deliver the interactive family attraction, which sits adjacent to the Silverstone Circuit.
The new Sim Suite at Silverstone Museum opened to the public on 29 March 2024. The new purpose-built space features professional-grade simulators, offering visitors a 30-minute racing experience, allowing them to drive an open-wheel car around the iconic Silverstone circuit, competing for a place on the digital leaderboards. The simulators use the latest technology to provide a high-quality racing experience.
Mather & Co are responsible for designing the new Sim room, their input involved spatial reconfiguration, an overhaul of the experience lighting, furniture design, and graphic design.
Josh Haynes, 3D Designer at Mather & Co said: “As a motorsport and F1 enthusiast, any opportunity to work with the team at the Silverstone Museum is exciting! Developing the new Sim Suite has been a great experience as we sought to create an exciting and dynamic space which embodies the fusion of technology and motorsport. The end result is a real destination for any motorsport fan looking to try their hand at driving an open-wheel car on professional simulator equipment; better still whilst surrounded by some of the greatest racing cars and bikes of all time!”
